What Is Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring

With so many different types of bamboo floors it's no wonder that people are easily confused or even misled to what is the best option for them. Often labeled as having the best characteristics of all the bamboo based floor cover, strand woven bamboo flooring stands out due to its unique construction and methods of pre-processing it goes through, before it ends up in your house.

Normally bamboo planks are made in a laminate-like method, using thin flat cut layers of matured bamboo that are then pressed strongly together to form the final product. Unlike those, strand woven bamboo is made from shredded fibers from the cane which are then woven together to form a denser material. The latter is put under high heat and pressure, along with the use of adhesives, which turns it to an extremely durable construction material.

It looks beautiful and gives an original look to any floor made of it. With further processing that either preserves its natural look or carbonizes it for forming up a different finish, it can also be stained to provide even greater number of coloring and themes available.

A few considerations when using this type of bamboo floor is that nailing it down can be difficult and even unreasonable. The thick structure that it has means it's possible to crack and damage the tongues, which is why gluing is the preferable method of attachment. Avoid the use of engineered floors that have woven stranded bamboo as their core layer. This has been proven to cause troubles for the structural integrity or the whole floor on many occasions.

CAN I LAY CERAMIC TILES ON TO OLD MARLEY TILE BLACK ADHESIVE?

I am wanting to lay porcelain tiles onto a concrete floor but the floor used to be covered with old "Marley" tiles. These have been removed and the floor is sound but is still black from the old adhesive and the Unibond adhesive I have for the tiles says that it cannot be used on "old adhesive". Can anyone advise me on how to treat the floor before laying

I m not familiar w/ the type( brand name) of thin set you have but a good latex or modified then set will bond well to it with a couple precautions,, The black adhesive must be down tight and not flaking and pealing. Of course it has to be smooth.. Now drying time will be a couple extra days .. There s no place for the moisture to go.
