A vacuum cleaner may be used to suck up any dirt particles logged therein. At this point the filter should be replaced with a new one by inserting it into the housing. It is also important to note that the rubber rim always has to remain facing up. Finally, replace the cover, by properly inserting it back into the air conduct.

I have a pair of Frye boots made of nice, soft leather, the sort that almost looks oily. Anyhow, I managed to accidentally step on a (I assume sizable) piece of gum that got stuck to the bottom corner of my boot. I've searched possible removal techniques but all of them seem to focus on thicker, more durable leather, ie: leather chairs, car upholstery. Is there a safe way to remove this pesky adhesive from my boots without damage or staining? Or considering what's been done should I just suck it up and take them to a professional?

I feel your pain. I have a pair of Fryes too and they're my favorite boots in the world. If it got on the bottom, though, you can probably just use something like Oops or Goo Gone to remove it. If it's on the leather, I wouldn't risk ruining a pair of $200+ boots. I'd take them to a professional.
