Trying to make an adhesive (question for chemists)?
i make a lot of projects that requires a lot of super glue (Cyanoacrylate). but i find it expensive to keep on buying them over and over. just a tube of it typically costs about $5 Canadian. so i thought maybe i could make my own. so i did a lot of googling, but couldn't find any guide for it.
then i remembered Cyanoacrylate are polymer resins, right? since it would be more expensive to actually synthesize my own polymers, i thought i would use something more readily available. so i thought maybe i could use recycled plastics. so the problem would be is how i could turn them to liquid (or semi) form. so i need a soluble for it. the cheapest solvent to buy in bulk (and safest) to experiment on, as far as i know, is acetone. so that would be my plan. so what are your comments, people? you guys think it's gonna work? if so, what plastics are soluble to acetone.
oh, yeah, if you guys know a good source i can read up on about this on the net, please kindly point it out pls..
