Big Bang Theory Season 4 Premier 4
Watch The Big Bang Theory Season 4 Episode 1. The Big Bang Theory continues to remain one of the funniest sitcoms on network television today. More consistently high quality than its CBS twin How I Met Your Mother and more intelligent than most sitcoms in recent memory, The Big Bang Theory continues to score big ratings by hooking viewers of all stripes, and holding them from one week to the next. BBT: it's not just for geeks anymore.
Season 3 showed us exactly why this is the case, shrugging off third season doldrums (See: Mad Men, Lost) to bring us some of the funniest BBT episodes yet to date. This show is at its very best when its five main characters, rather than being shoehorned into conventional sitcom devices like hook-ups and infighting, are simply allowed to be their smart, socially awkward, idiosyncratic selves. And for the most part, they were.
Up to now, creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady have been smart enough to figure out that they don't need to manufacture a bunch of conflict in any given episode -- it's enough to introduce a simple setup, then allow each character to address the situation in their own way. Hence we were entertained by Howard and Raj arguing over a species of cricket ("The Jiminy Conjecture"), Sheldon tending awkwardly to Penny after she dislocated her shoulder ("The Adhesive Duck Deficiency"), and Leonard learning the rules of football from Sheldon ("The Cornhusker Vortex").
If Season 3 had a shortcoming, it was the blah Leonard/Penny relationship. Initially we were intrigued by the nontraditional pairing -- cute, cheerleader-type Penny and shy, bookish Leonard -- but their relationship lacked chemistry and a sense of fun. It was just as well that we were never subjected to a Ross-and-Rachel-esque, "But he's her lobster!" -style dramafest between the two. Aside from a very funny and poignant episode in which Sheldon had to hide his friendship with Penny from Leonard ("The Spaghetti Catalyst"), everyone seemed to inherently agree that these two made better friends than lovers.
One of the pleasures of this show is that you can throw together practically any two characters and have a unique, unpredictable and funny dynamic. Forget Leonard and Penny -- perhaps the best odd-couple pairing we got all season was Sheldon and Penny, who despite all odds, have figured out that they enjoy each other's company (so do we). Something about his smug childishness gels perfectly with her unsinkable good humor and ability to deliver a zinging comeback. "The Adhesive Duck Deficiency" showcased Sheldon and Penny's unique chemistry to great effect on multiple levels -- not only did Sheldon have to tolerate hours alone with Penny, but he was forced to adopt the role of caretaker while the other guys were off getting stoned in the desert. The episode culminated in a newfound trust between the two, who by the end of the season grew to think of each other as friends.
Speaking of Sheldon, he continues to be an amazing comic force. Jim Parsons shone this year, and the writers wisely showcased him at every possible opportunity. It's hard to imagine this actor ever playing any other role. We followed Sheldon from the North Pole to his home state of Texas (where Laurie Metcalf did a very funny turn as his uber-conservative mother), learned the back story of his friendship with Leonard, and best of all, saw him face off against his sixth most hated rival, Wil Wheaton. Wheaton's guest appearance in "The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary" was so well received that the show brought him back a second time, in "The Wheaton Recurrence." Sometimes you can tell when actors are really enjoying themselves onscreen and this always seemed to be the case when Wheaton showed up, so hopefully he'll continue to play himself on a semi-regular basis.
In the show's history, Sheldon has never had a serious love interest -- but it looks as if that's about to change. In the season finale, we had a fleeting introduction to Amy Farrah Fowler, (played by Mayim Bialik, essentially playing Jim Parsons playing Sheldon Cooper). To be honest, this show doesn't need romantic relationships to keep us interested every week -- but if we're going to watch one play out in Season 4, then give us Sheldon and Amy over Leonard and Penny any day of the week.
The premier episode is entitled "The Robotic Manipulation". Penny tags along on Sheldon's first date; Wolowitz finds a new use for a robotic arm.
Other than that,Watch The Office Season 7 Episode 1.

Why are current fashions so depressing?
More and more people are favoring minimalistic, eco-friendly designs for everything. In theory, this should be great. But everything's beginning to look the same, and the lack of diversity is kind of depressing.
Ex:
"Customing" something now means going online and buying one of many androgenous looking adhesive designs; the personal touch is lost when 400 other people have your same design. It's not tailored to YOU, its tailored to people LIKE you (what's the difference?). To me, that's sad.
Do you agree?
Glad to hear some people agree! I've been ranting in my head for a while not knowing if I was alone in my opinion.
Sometimes I become envious of the people who shop at Walmart
and can feel satisfied because they can see through the rectangular
one size fits all consumer wear knowing that it's only a shirt.

Theory $50 "Theory is the final volume in a truly groundbreaking work by one of the world's best-known theologians. As a whole, A Scientific Theology is the most extended and systematic exploration of the relation between theology and science ever undertaken. Now complete, it will surely become a standard entry into modern Christian thought. In Theory Alister McGrath deals with the question of how reality is represented in Christian theology and the natural sciences. Building on the insights of thinkers like Martin Heidegger and Jurgen Habermas, McGrath argues that theory is to be conceived in terms of the "communal beholding of reality." Thusly understood, theory is primarily a response to an experienced reality, which, for the Christian community, demands theological expression. In the course of unpacking the implications of this perspective, McGrath addresses such subjects as the explanatory dimensions of theology, the place of metaphysics in Christian theology, and the nature of revelation itself." |
