Can crocus cloth be used as a polishing on a wooden pen?

i am a woodturner and i was recently just about to go buy some micro-mesh from woodcraft for some finishing on my pens in order to get that nice high gloss mirror shine on them...i have family in at the house right now for the holidays and my grandpa had mentioned the use of something called crocus cloth as an alternative to micro-mesh....now, typically i use CA glue as a filler on my pens and also to give it a satin gloss finish and i sand it to around 400 grit before putting the glue on...i know that the crocus cloth is a very fine abrasive but is it too fine to go directly from 400 grit to a mirror finish or do i need to get that micro-mesh grits of 1500-12000 grit before the crocus stuff?

Yes use the crocus cloth as an intermediate between the 400 and the micro mesh. this will eliminate a lot of unnecessary wear and clogging of the mesh
