Gluing tread on running shoes?
Frequently the thin rubber tread layer of my running shoes
will come loose around the periphery of the shoes.
I have tried various adhesives:
RTV / contact cement / wet suit repair glue.
I have not been successful with finding
an adhesive to keep the tread glued to the shoe.
I know to clean the adhesive surfaces
before applying the glue.
My shoe repair shop seems to have
a successful adhesive, but he charges me 10$
to fix the shoe.
I am looking for a cheaper do-it-yourself
fix to this problem. Any ideas?
Being a runner …I have dealt with trying to extend the life of expensive running shoes with similar problems ….I have yet to find anything that works for any length of time although “Shoe Goo” has provided the longest fix .
But considering the $$ you have spent on glue it might be worth it to shell out the 10.00 for something that does work.
