How do I get glue off a plaster wall?

My hallway wall has these cork squares, I'm almost done taking it off. Yet there's glue left and I need to know how to take it off.

I have 2 options if you wish:
The 1st of the 2 options needs no ventalation (extra air flow)

1.)Mix 2 cups of fabric softener to a 1/2 gallon of boiling water use a paint roller in small sections approx. 5x7 area soak the area untill us see it start to get softer then use a scraper with a firm force but do not scrape into the paint or other surfaces.

2.) Use gloves, Well ventilated area, towel or sponge and butane (lighter fluid).
wearing your latex or non latex gloves saturate a small towel or sponge rub the butane onto the surface that has glue it will in about 3-4 minutes come off after the glue is gone wash treated area with hot soapy water and towle dry.
