How can I repair a broken crystal lamp?

I have a very nice cut crystal lamp base that is now in several pieces, some larger and some small chips. I'd like to repair it as best I can, although I know it will never look like new again. There aren't any places around here that do repairs like this. What's the best way to go about this myself? Is there a special adhesive I should use? Or is it worth it to send it to a specialized repair shop?
It broke in shipping, so there was bubble wrap around it, which is why I think it didn't shatter into a million pieces. There are many very small shards, which I guess I won't bother with, but the larger pieces are still worth it I think.

if its a real crystal lamp, then no way can you glue it. It would have shattered into a million pieces
