Flooding worries? Carpet tiles could be the solution

It’s amazing the damage a little bit of water can do, isn’t it? A trickle of water started the Grand Canyon, after all!

Finding water on your floor is one of the most unpleasant surprises a home or business owner can face. Whether the water’s from a burst pipe, a rainstorm, or melting snow, the damage is the same. indoor carpet glue & floor leveler....?

we just pulled up our indoor/outdoor carpet on our porch and we have glue on our concrete floor. we want to put tile out there but aren't sure if we can put leveler on top of the glue...so can we?

Stop there is no easy way if you want the tile to last. If you own the house and want the tile to last for years you must remove the old glue. There is no magic way, you must scrape inch by inch with a sharp scraper. If you just cover up the glue and carpet scrapes will decay over the years and the tile will come loose. You can not use a glue remover because it will get into the concrete and damage the setting material for the tile. Sorry to give you the bad news, but the floor prep in the most important thing you can do. If you have a lot to do consider buying a changeable blade scraper with a short 3' handle. About $25 at a carpet supple house.
