How can i paint my DJ case made of wood ?

Hi all,
i have a dj case but i would like to paint it because it now has some scratches and the iron/aluminum sides are a little rusted but still silver in colour. it looks something like this one but just a little bigger -->

the original paint is red finish. i am planning to paint the inside the same colour just a little darker so i dont have to go thru primer or anyother process.
I was wondering if i should paint it ? or may be buy raxene or other material that can be cut and glued on to the previous finish (may be like a thick finished paper) ? im not sure what to do .. any help or answers will be greatly appreciated thank you!!

You can touch up the siding with a little naval jelly and possibly a bit of metallic silver spray paint. The sides would need to be sanded and or primed before taking paint, even though it is made of wood. The other option would be contact paper, in any design that you like, it would be cleaner and less work. Cut the paper a bit larger than the exposed wood so that you can slip the edges underneath the metal part. Touch up the metal part first. So your cost would be 1 can of rustoleum or silver spray paint and one roll of contact paper.
