A Guide to Making Gel Candle

Gel candle wax is one of the most exciting products come onto the market for manufacturers of candles in a long time. Gel wax is made from a combination of mineral oil and polymer resin. When the resin is mixed with mineral oil, a frozen solid is formed, and which is wax candle gel. The gel can then be heated to melting and poured into containers for candles. We must achieve temperatures of about 200F degrees, so be careful with this wax.

Gel can be purchased in different densities - High, medium and low. The density difference determines its ease of use. High density gel wax suspended in decorations can best support. Because of this characteristic clear gel candles are quite spectacular.

Gel wax made in forms are available on the market, and with them you can making candles totally unique. Your choices are varied - from grape shaped and colored pieces of gel simple rectangular pieces. It is also possible make your own pieces or chunks of color to use. Just melt the gel wax, following the manufacturer's instructions, add color, pour into a tray Flatbed with sides and let cool and set. Once cooled, you can easily cut it into chunks to be used by pressing the gel with a knife cutting ..

Use these pre-made forms and pieces of gel to gel candle interesting. First, glue the wick (with Sustainer attached) at the base of your glass container. Now add a layer of gel pieces into the container. Pour liquid into a gel or wax in a color contrasting complement to bridge the gaps between songs. Add another layer of gel pieces and start again. When the tank is filled to less than one quarter inch high, it is complete. After the gel has cooled and hardened, cut the wick and your candle is ready to use.

Gel wax can be used like other wax - melted and poured into a container, where it cools and makes a simple container candle. It must be melted at 200F degrees, more heat Direct. You can also use an electric kettle with its own heating element and temperature control. Because of the high temperature required to melt it, always have a fire extinguisher nearby. Carefully pour the wax into the container resistant to heat, and although yet melted, add some glitter to the effect. Stir gently, so no bubbles form. Pour the wax at a faster rate in the container to give ocean water bubbling feeling. SNIP When the candle is cool, off the wick so that it does not fit the container top.

Whatever is the method you use to make your gel candles, to give special attention to safety, and after you wash your candles, as the gel wax is slightly toxic. Never burn a candle gel into the bottom of the container for the heat May cause the container to the brim or break.

Has anyone ever used generic glue sticks w/the Crafty Magic Melt Little Dipper Glue Pot with success?

The instructions say it uses ONLY their patented Crafty Magic Melt oval glue sticks. Has anyone used the regular generic sticks without a problem? Thanks

I doubt if there would be any problem as long as you use oval glue sticks, or perhaps just cut any glue stick into pieces if you could then melted them directly in the pot.
(I think all "glue sticks" are the same except for color and shape... the glue guns, or glue pots, etc, sold for glue sticks are what make them "high-temp" or "low-temp" btw, not the glue sticks themselves --iow, how hot that same glue is heated.)

You might also be able to use the same pots for melting UTEE (ultrathick embossing powders, etc) and other things too since it supposedly heats to around 225 F.
