Favor Shot Glasses As Wedding Favors

Glass is one of the least expensive materials these days especially when it comes to buying in bulk. Drink ware made from glass prove to be some of the timeless wedding favors and nowadays, more and more couples are turning to etched shot glasses as their wedding favors. Favor shot glasses aren't as expensive as it may sound. Favor shot glasses include a unique design and a personalized message in short sentences from the bride and groom such as 'happy together', 'happily married' or 'thank you' or it can mention the names of the bride and groom. At times, the wedding date and venue are also included into the glass.

Years ago, wedding favors used to come in paper bags but couples nowadays use etched shot glasses to replace these bags since these glasses can become useful even after the wedding date. Here's an idea into making your shot glasses look really nice. Buy cheap shot glasses that aren't colored nor have designs on it. Once you have purchased these, get some colored crepe paper of your choice. Red, beige, powder blue, pink and even purple and plum colors are great.

Next, cut the paper into a square that's big enough so that its sides spill out of the shot glass. After the square of paper is cut, just place it into the shot glass. It doesn't have to look nice as the whole point of the paper is to be a base. Then, after doing this, include chocolates or trinkets or anything that you were planning to include for the wedding favor into the glass. The favor shot glass should contain a message of 'Thank You' as well as the wedding date and venue.

Another interesting and wonderful wedding favor idea is buying simple shot glasses and filling them with candy. Adding a small card that has the names of the couple printed on it gives the wedding favor a personal touch or you can make small cards or tags in the shape that you like, glue them onto a toothpick and stick them into the candy-filled glass with your personal message handwritten or printed. Choose candy that does melt or spoil as nobody would like to eat spoiled or melted candy. If you can fine candy that's wrapped with individual decorative paper, it's even better.

Apart from including candy or trinkets into your etched shot glass, why not put in scented candles? Scented candles make any gift look luxurious and expensive. And besides, your wedding guests can use both the candle and the shot glasses. Personally, I would like gifts or favors that can be used. I don't really see the point in giving people gifts that are just meant for decoration--it'll only collect dust. But then again, buying gifts is an individual's prerogative.

Favor shot glasses can be purchased from online and land retailers. Before you go shopping for etched glasses, why not look at the online sites offering these glasses as it can let you know the price range of these glasses and how much each retailer chargers. Not only that, online shopping offers you more choices from all around the world and you will absolutely find something that you like, or if you don't plan on purchasing it online, visit the store or get some interesting ideas when you visit and offline dealer.

I want to make a paper mached bottle. THe bottle would be a wine or that type of bottle. (glass). I want to use magazine cut out words to cover it up, so when you look at it there are all of these words on it. If you know of a way to do this please let me know. I am making it for my brothers graduation as a present. Should i just glue the words all over it or is there a special way to do this. thanks.

What you are trying to do is a french technique called decoupage. Basically, the best thing to do is to cut all of the images out, like you planed. Make a solution out of water and glue. Elmer's glue will be fine. Take each piece individually and stick it on with a paint brush. Make sure that it is even and there are no wrinkles or air bubbles under it. If you are gluing pieces to the curve that leads to the opening of the bottle use small pieces because larger ones wrinkle over curves unless you cut them into strips. After you finish covering the bottle let it dry completely. Then cover it with polyurethane. Let it dry once and do another coat. That will make it glossy. I know this was really long but i hope it helps. Also it would be cool to decoupage a wooden box or something. I've done it many times it makes a great gift.
