I have a hand made doile that I want to place in a picture frame. How can I put on mat w/out ruining fabric?

I want to place the doile on a dark background. I'm afraid glue will ruin the fabric. Some of the doilies are crocheted. I thought of sewing them on the mat, but it is too thick.

there are several ways the one that worked best for me was to wet with starch, lay out flat,you can use pins to stretch it if you like, when dry you can use the spray fabric glue to tack it to the mat. I did this to my grandmothers lace and it worked wonderfully. after a few years i took it down and washed it with no harm done at all, just be sure to read the can of glue to make sure that it is made to be a temporary hold, (even several years is considered temporary) that is it will hold until you actually want to take it apart.
