Repairing a Wood Siding

If there are any splits in the wood siding they can rapidly shift to homes for bugs, mold and mildew. You need to grab care of the trouble earlier in time. This is a moderately easy task.

The first step that you need to do is to slide a wooden shim below the bottom piece of the split board & then toward its end. After that you have to take off any nails.

Next you need to coat the top of the revealed board with waterproof wood glue & then it must sit till it becomes tacky. The following process is to receive the split pieces together. Following, you have to drive a rustproof nail above and below the split. Then coat the nail head with a dab of wood putty & sand it easily.

A useful advice is to spray for insects before you repair the board.

The things that you are going to need are putty knife, hammers, wood glues, wood shims, common nails, pry bars, wood putty & sandpapers.

Is there a way to repair a dent in floating floor?

I dropped something on my floating floor, and it made a dent. I can't replace it without ripping up the floor. But is there a way to fill it in? I isn't very big, about the size of a fingermail.

A friend had suggeste combining sawdust and wood glue and then putting it in the hole, and sanding it smooth.

If anyone else has some ideas that would be great.

If your floor is laminate (Pergo, or some other fiber based click together type) you're in a little bit of a fix.

The surface on that stuff is remarkably hard but underneath it lies a very thin print of wood grain or tile, beneath that is what amounts to highly compressed cardboard. It's difficult to make good repairs on something like this.

It's probably possible (provided that it's a good sized room) to dismantle a portion of the floor and reassemble it in a way that the damaged plank is in a discreet location.

To repair the damaged plank; Most places that sell laminate (Home Depot etc.) have tubes of caulk that match pretty close to the floor color (in flooring dept, not paint) and that would probably suffice. The thing about that caulk is it's siliconized acrylic and doesn't get all that hard. You may find a suitable color of something called "Plastic Wood" in a paint dept, it will get hard like solid plastic and can be worked/ shaped like wood.

Be careful to avoid sanding the area around your patch, it will degloss the surface and make the repair more obvious than if you had done nothing. If the surrounding area is sanded, there is little beyond a good spot waxing to band aid the blemish.
