At what age should I give up on bracing my Sheltie's ears?

She's a 8 month old blue girl who's the most precious thing in the world. Her ears were tipped when I got her a few months ago and flew soon after she arrived at my home. The stress of moving must have gotten to her. I've tried the taping, gluing, and moleskin with no luck. As soon as it comes out, they are fine for a few hours and/or days, but fly again. Currently her ear set is prick with a slight backwards lean on the tips. Should I just give up on her ears as she is a pet or keep trying and hope for the best?

Whether you want to keep trying or not is up to you. Only you can decide if the effort is worth the results to you. At 8 months, she is going through the "adolescent uglies", that many shelties go through. The ears fly, the legs are long and gangly, shoulder angulation goes to pot...just a stage for most. If you want the ears to tip, now is not the time to give up. I stand by the Japanese tape, and if you want, I can offer you some advice and websites on using it. I used to kow where there was a great video online about it. I'll go look, if you tell me you'd rather keep trying. If you don't want to, it's not a sin. As long as you and your pup are happy, it doens't matter.

To the uninformed, ear taping is not harmful or stressful in any way.
