can i use gripper rods on felt back carpet?

hi guys

im looking at getting a new carpet for my stairs, landing and bedroom but on a tight budget.

i have a good quality underlay already down with gripper rods, i've seen a carpet i like, but it's felt back,

can i re-use my underlay and grippers? Or do I have to use adhesive?

Yes the grippers will work ok. You could use some carpet glue on top of the underlay for extra security but furniture would hold it down anyway, so thats optional.
