Any way to stop, or slow zoom lens creep?

I want an old 75-150mm E Series Nikon lens, but it has a bad case of zoom creep.
(For those that do not know- it means if the lens is tilted, it extends or pulls back on it's own with little to no resistance.) I was thinking of a light sanding on the barrel or maybe a tiny bit of super glue to make a small bump or two on it to provide traction. Any ideas? This lens is said to be super sharp, so I intend to buy one off ebay soon.

A wide strong rubber band....

First, get a wider rubber band if you can. Second, place it not where the lens extends, but where the zoom ring touches the barrel of the lens. Half the rubber band will cover each the zoom ring and the barrel. The friction will be sufficient to prevent creep. Hope this helps.
