pva glue makeup

how can i remove glue from my makeup brush handles? (details inc)?

okay as i christmas present i got a makeup brush set and they were all stuck to this plastic as like a stand.

ive pulled them off the stand but theres a blob of a pva style (only not the peelable stuff) still left on the metal bit on the handle.

any ideas on how to get it off? ive tried picking it off and its stuck
i could really do with something that doesnt invole buying anything
