Diluted with distilled water, PVA size is a contemporary size for fabric support. Conservation scientists recommend painters use neutral pH PVA size on linen and canvas instead of rabbit skin glue. PVA provides a good size layer that seals the fabric but does not re-absorb atmospheric moisture, swell and shrink like rabbit skin glue does. Gamblin PVA Size is made from PVA that has a neutral pH and does not yellow. It also retains its flexibility and does not emit harmful volatiles.

Produced by Rick Rubin, Toxicity was released on September 4, 2001 by American Recordings, debuting at #1 on both the United States and Canadian charts. Toxicity has sold over 12 million copies worldwide and is multiplatinum in the United States. Toxicity received mass critical acclaim, making many endofyear best of lists (such as being named SPIN Magazines #1 record of the year), and earning a Grammy Award nomination for lead single Chop Suey . It is the only System of a Down album not to feature the Parental Advisory label, with only minor profanities. However, a limited edition of the album containing a bonus CD with behind the scenes footage of the making of the album does feature the Parental Advisory label, while a different limited edition containing a DVD with the Toxicity music video and live footage also does not feature the label. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Protein toxicity with proteinuria can result in those with preexisting kidney disease, or those who have lost kidney function due to age. Consuming more than 2.0 g/kg/day in protein can stress the kidney even in otherwise healthy people. The first sign of kidney problems begins with microalbuminuria, which is a marker for kidney disease. Common causes of kidney disease include diabetes, heart disease and long term untreated high blood pressure, as well as abuse of aspirin. Unexplained vomiting and a loss of appetite are indicators of protein toxicity. If those two symptoms are accompanied by an ammonia quality on the breath the onset of kidney failure is a likely culprit. People with kidney disease, who are not on dialysis, are advised to avoid consumption of protein if possible, as consuming too much accelerates the condition and can lead to death. Most of the problems stem from the accumulation of unfiltered toxins and wastes from protein metabolism. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Although the fields of toxicology and human health assessment address similar problems, the experts from these fields do not meet very frequently. Originating from a meeting of scientist in both fields, this book clearly links ecotoxicology and classic human toxicology. It incorporates extensive reviews of exposure to toxicants, toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics, toxicology of mixtures, and risk assessment. This unusual combination of coverage sets it apart from other ecotoxicological and risk assessment resources that do not discuss these topics in an integrated manner.

Metals, Fertility, and Reproductive Toxicity

Metals, Fertility, and Reproductive Toxicity

$129.95

Environmental endocrine disruptors have been at the heart of discussions about chemicals and their effects on fertility, but the focus has been on organic compounds and the role of metals has been largely overlooked - until now. Taking an organ-system-based approach, Metals, Fertility, and Reproductive Toxicity examines the effects of metals found in the everyday environment on fertility rates in humans and animal populations. This volume summarizes and evaluates the literature in the area of metal effects on fertility and reproduction in humans, laboratory animals, and wildlife. International experts have contributed chapters that explore how the ovary, testes, uterine system, and neuroendocrine system, among others, respond to metal exposure. Reviewing both current knowledge and cutting edge data, the chapters focus on either a particular metal or a particular population. A massive amount of data on this subject has been generated, summarized, and reviewed over the years. While there are many books available on metals toxicity and on reproductive toxicity, no current book explores both in the same volume. Culling information from throughout the literature, Metals, Fertility, and Reproductive Toxicity supplies an in-depth look at the role of metals in endocrine disruption and the spectrum of mechanisms involving metals that can influence reproduction.

The Paradox of Lead Toxicity

The Paradox of Lead Toxicity

$181.62

Lead is widely used in hundreds of products but it is nonbiodegradable, hence it is simultaneously a versatile product and at the same time a subtle and persistent poison. This is the paradox of lead toxicity. Exposure to lead is a threat to the health and to physical development of young children and adults. The characteristic features of lead toxicity, including anemia, colic, neuropathy, nephropathy, sterility, and coma, were noted both by Hippocrates and Nikander in ancient times. We found that lower concentration of lead could induce significant DNA damage and strand breaks in the chromosomes. Biomarkers of Molecular toxicity studies showed DNA strand breaks, micro nuclei, apoptosis and necrosis. Lead is a genotoxicant and certain factors like, duration of exposure and habitats and other demographic factors of the individuals enhance the toxicity. It was found that hemoglobin levels were comparatively low in volunteers with higher blood lead levels, but there was a definite role of other factors like nutritional status, calcium and Iron intake and genotypes of certain genes of the individuals. Predicting Chemical Toxicity and Fate

Predicting Chemical Toxicity and Fate

$119.95

Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships (QSARs) are increasingly used to predict the toxicity and fate of chemicals both to man and in the environment. While these methods are used in a variety of areas (academic, industrial, regulatory), there is little coherent information available on their use. Predicting Chemical Toxicity and Fate provides a comprehensive explanation of the state of the art prediction methods that are available. This unique, practical book illustrates the use of these techniques in real life scenarios. This book will demystify QSARs for those students unsure of them, and professionals in environmental toxicology and chemistry will find this a useful reference in their everyday working lives.
