Do vets use both surgical glue and stitches? I feel a stitch but was told surgical glue was used.?

I had my kitten neutered 3 weeks ago. I was told that surgical glue was used but I can see and feel a stitch at the site. Could it be possible the vet used both surgical glue and a regular stitch? Don't they use disolvable stitches? I think he may be in a little pain cuz he sits funny. lower part of back seems more arched. Not straight like most cats.
It was a stitch and it is gone now. He either pulled it out, my other cat pulled it out or it fell out. Thank you for all your great answers.
I can't decide who's answer is the best. I think they are all great. Can I select all as best?

The vet I work for uses suture on the spermatic cords (which are inside the scrotum) and leaves the outer incisions in the scrotum open. Sometimes the internal suture will work its way through the skin, then we just clip it off. We use dissolvable suture 99% of the time. Occasionally we'll use staples or non dissolvable, but only to close skin, not internally. Surgical glue can feel a lot like a stitch when it's coming loose. He may be sore, the way he is sitting sounds like he is. You can call up the vet and ask for some pain meds, they're pretty cheap for a cat (because they're small).

What could be a more powerful and direct metaphor for a 1950s repressed family`s excruciating commitment to non-communication than for the parents to submit their youngest child to the surgical removal of one of his vocal chord without telling him that was what was happening? It`s too much right? He couldn`t speak above a whisper for years. And it`s a true story. As respected illustrator David Small shares in his comics memoir, this happened to him at the age of 14. Small truly exploits the possibilities of his medium through his cinematic imagery, starkly black-and-white palette, and emotionally charged drawings. He unfolds his narrative with an appropriate sparseness and lets the images do much of the storytelling. This is an elegantly crafted and heart-wrenchingly beautiful memoir. Selected by both Publishers Weekly and the Washington Post as one of the Top 10 Books of 2009 and named a finalist for the 2009 National Book Award for young people`s literature.

Scrubs meets David Sedaris in this hilarious fish-out-of- water memoir about a young Korean-American nerd turned renowned plastic surgeon. Tony Youn grew up one of two Asian-American kids in a small town where diversity was uncommon. Too tall and too thin, he wore thick Coke-bottle glasses, braces, Hannibal Lecter headgear, and had a protruding jaw that one day began to grow, expanding to an unthinkable, monstrous size. After high school graduation, while other seniors partied at the beach or explored Europe, Youn lay strapped in an oral surgeon’s chair where he underwent a life-changing jaw reconstruction. Ironically, it was this brutal makeover that led him to his life’s calling, and he continued on to endure the four horrific, hilarious, sex-starved, and tension-filled years that eventually earned him an M.D. Offering a window into a side of medicine that most people never see, Youn shares his bumpy journey from a shy, skinny, awkward nerd into a renowned and successful plastic surgeon. Now, Youn is the media’s go-to plastic surgeon. He appears regularly on The Rachael Ray Show , and his blog, Celebrity Cosmetic Surgery, is widely read and very popular. But it was a long road to success, and In Stitches recounts Dr. Youn’s misfit adolescence and his four tumultuous years in medical school with striking wit, heart, and humility. For anyone who has ever experienced the awkward teenage years or is ready for some escapist fun, In Stitches is one man’s heartfelt, candid, and laugh-out-loud funny, journey of finding his true calling in life—and learning to be comfortable in his own skin.

Biomaterials for Surgical Operation

Biomaterials for Surgical Operation

$189

Biomaterials for Surgical Operation offers a review of the latest advances made in developing bioabsorbable devices for surgical operations which include surgical adhesives (sealants), barriers for the prevention of tissue adhesion, polymers for fractured bone fixation, growth factors for the promotion of wound healing, and sutures. Over the years, many descriptions of biomaterials have appeared in academic journals and books, but most of them have been devoted to limited clinical areas. This is in marked contrast with this volume which covers a wide range of bioabsorbable devices used in surgery from a practical point of view. The currently applied polymeric devices are critical in surgery, but all involve serious problems due to their poor performance. For instance, fibrin glue, the most widely used surgical sealant, can produce only a weak gel with low adhesive strength to tissues, accentuating the limited effectiveness of current treatment options. Likewise, the currently available barrier membranes cannot fully prevent tissue adhesion at the acceptable level and are, moreover, not easy to handle with endoscopes due to their poor mechanical properties. Biomaterials for Surgical Operation is aimed at those who are interested in expanding their knowledge of how the problems associated with the currently used devices for surgical operation can be solved. It primarily focuses on the absorbable biomaterials which are the main components of these medical devices.
