Is it ok to lay cement backerboard over existing linoleum when installing floor tile?

I am going to adhere the backerboard to the subfloor with thinset, but do I need to remove the linoleum? It's SOLIDLY affixed to the subfloor, no peeling or bubbling or anything. I've heard that the adhesive for the linoleum can react badly with the thinset, is this true?
I was planning on screwing it to the subfloor too, just didn't include that detail, sorry.

Yes you can..but screw it to the subfloor, lots and lots of screws so it doesn't move, else your tile will crack.
